Splitwise alternative for solo travelers.
Splitwise is for splitting bills with friends. Jotspend is for tracking everything you spend. On WhatsApp. By text, photo, or voice.
Different tools, different problems.
Splitwise solves a real problem: who owes whom after a group dinner. It does this well. But it's not a personal expense tracker, even though many people use it that way out of habit.
If you're tracking your own spending — especially while traveling solo or on business — you don't need "split with" and "who paid" fields on every expense. You need to log fast and look at the data later. That's what Jotspend does.
- Splitting dinner with friends
- Group trips with shared expenses
- Tracking who owes whom
- Roommate utilities
- Tracking your own spending
- Solo travel expenses
- Business trips on your own card
- Daily spend awareness

Splitwise switchers ask.
Is Jotspend a direct Splitwise alternative?
Not exactly. Splitwise is built for splitting bills between friends. Jotspend is built for tracking your personal expenses (especially while traveling). If you want pure bill-splitting, stay on Splitwise. If you want to track everything you spend solo, Jotspend is better.
Why not just use Splitwise for solo expense tracking?
Splitwise's form-based UI is built for group transactions. For solo tracking it's overkill — you tap through fields like 'who paid' and 'split with' for every expense. Jotspend skips all that. Text the amount, done.
Can I import expenses from Splitwise to Jotspend?
Not currently. Splitwise has CSV export — we're building an import tool. In the meantime, you can start fresh on Jotspend for new trips.
Does Jotspend support splitting bills with friends?
Bill-splitting isn't the core use case. We're focused on personal tracking. If you split a meal, just log your share.
Why use WhatsApp instead of an app like Splitwise?
Because you're already in WhatsApp 50 times a day. Adding another app to open is friction. Logging an expense should be as easy as texting a friend.
