About

Built by one person.
For the way people actually spend.

Jotspend is an AI expense tracker on WhatsApp. There's no team, no investors, no roadmap meeting. Just one developer in Dubai who got tired of expense apps that didn't work the way real travelers spend.

The founder

Hadi.

Solo developer. Based in Dubai. Built Jotspend after every other expense app failed me by day 3 of a one-month trip across Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand.

I'd tried everything — Splitwise, TravelSpend, Google Sheets, a Notes app where I'd type "taxi 200" and promise myself I'd sort it later. I never sorted it later.

The problem wasn't discipline. It was friction. Every app wanted me to pick a category, select a currency, enter a date, choose a trip. By the time I was done, I'd forgotten the next three expenses.

So I built Jotspend. Put it on WhatsApp because that's what everyone already has open. Took it on a one-month trip across three countries. For the first time in my life, I tracked every single expense. Not because I was disciplined. Because texting "lunch 45" was easier than not doing it.

If it's not faster than texting a friend, it doesn't ship.

Principles

Three rules I won't break.

01

Logging happens where you already are.

You don't need another app icon. You need expense tracking inside the chat app you already check 50 times a day. That's why Jotspend lives on WhatsApp.

02

The AI does the boring part.

Categories, currencies, dates, merchants — all the dropdowns other apps make you tap through. The AI fills them in from a sentence or a receipt photo. You just say what you spent.

03

Your data stays yours.

Your expenses are not training data for any AI model. Not sold. Not shared. Not used to target ads. You can delete everything in 30 days, permanent.

The trip that started it

31 days. 3 countries. Every expense logged.

Jotspend is shipped because that trip worked. If the AI hadn't kept up, if WhatsApp had broken, if logging had taken even 10 seconds — there'd be no product.
